Filed Under: Drink responsibly. With that said . . . Trust us: You'll want to drink the whole dang bottle.
Overview: Vodka infused with sweet tea and other awesome natural ingredients. Pour over ice, add a lemon, maybe some sparkling water, maybe flat water instead. Either way, you'll enjoy every sip of this wonderfully made spirit, from the State that invented sweet tea (allegedly)
Appreciate: What's in it. The vodka itself is column distilled 10 times. The water is naturally-sourced from Texas aquifers. Flavor is thanks to family-owned and operated Goodflow Honey Co. Sweetness is thanks to real cane sugar (no syruppy high-fructose corn syrup!) from the appropriately named Sugarland, Texas. And the tea is Indonesian leaf. No surprise, Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka earned a Gold Award at the 2011 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Of course, you don't need San Franciscans to tell you it's good; just look for it on empty shelves around Texas liquor stores, and you'll figure it out for yourself
Know: Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka is the brainchild of the founders behind two other Austin-based brands: Savvy Vodka, and Sweet Leaf Tea. You'll have to go straight to Savvy for the Savvy, and to Sweet Leaf for their tea, however, as the Deep Eddy recipe does not combine these beverages; instead, it's inspired by them. The vodka in Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka is available for sale by itself, branded as Deep Eddy Vodka. Because it's distilled with pure Texas aquifer water, it's purchase-worthy in its own right
Special Comments: The brand Deep Eddy Vodka is named after the popular and historic Deep Eddy pool near central Austin, on the banks of the Colorado River. In the olden days, a performer named Lorena and her horse would climb up a 50 foot diving board, and plunge into Deep Eddy pool. What kind of world do we live in, where it's legal for a lady to dive a horse into a pool from way up high, yet it's illegal to drink Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka by the edge of Deep Eddy Pool. Call your congressman
Cost: Around $18 for 750mL; because you can't drink it straight, save a few extra dollars for some tonic water or another mixer
